WMC Launches New Video Series to Kick Off Manufacturing Month

New Videos Released Each Week Will Highlight Industry, Rewarding Careers
MADISON – Gov. Scott Walker proclaimed October as Manufacturing Month, and Wisconsin Manufacturers & Commerce (WMC) will join him in celebrating the state’s top industry. To emphasize the importance of manufacturing in Wisconsin, WMC will release a new video each week with a different theme: Vocational Education, High-Tech Manufacturing, Women in Manufacturing and the Coolest Thing Made in Wisconsin.
“Manufacturing is not only part of Wisconsin’s history, it is critical to our future,” said WMC President/CEO Kurt R. Bauer. “We thank Gov. Walker for once again putting the spotlight on manufacturing, which employs 461,000 people in the state and contributes $56 billion to our economy.”
The first video in WMC’s series for Manufacturing Month focuses on the importance of vocational education. Wisconsin’s employers need a highly skilled workforce that is ready to take on the challenges faced each day in manufacturing.
Wisconsin’s technical colleges play a crucial role in preparing not only young people right out of high school, but also individuals looking for a new career. Additionally, each campus works directly with the business community to ensure graduates are ready on day one for the jobs available in their region.
“The Wisconsin technical colleges are invaluable to their local community,” Bauer added. “We are proud to partner with them during manufacturing month – and throughout the year – to highlight the education opportunities available in every corner of the state.”
