WMC Urges Lawmakers to Reform Wisconsin Taxes

Ahead of the Joint Finance Committee’s tax proposal release for the state’s biannual budget, WMC’s Director of Tax, Transportation & Legal Affairs Evan Umpir joined Meg Ellefson to discuss Wisconsin’s tax rate is higher than neighboring states, ranking as the 8th highest in the nation for its income tax rate.

“Wisconsin can’t afford to improve our tax climate slowly and cautiously,” Umpir shared. “We have a $6.9 billion dollar surplus. Income tax has an effect on population and economic growth…we can’t afford not to do something.”
