As Wisconsin’s primary draws near, Scott Manley joins the Vicki McKenna show to discuss candidate proposals on income taxes, including one that would ultimately send half of your income to the government.
Francesca Hong, a democratic socialist running for Wisconsin governor, has proposed a major increase in government spending, funded by her “tax the rich” plan. Her plan also includes a mandatory hike of the minimum wage to $20 per hour, a repeal of Act 10 and Right to Work, free childcare, free housing, free public transportation, and a public bank to offer loans.
WMC’s Manley nods to the hypocrisy of her plan, as Hong once owned a now-failed restaurant and was unable to cope with these policies as an employer herself.
“Repealing Act 10 is a 2 billion dollar statewide property tax every single year,” said Manley. “So if you think your property tax jumped a lot in December (and it did), just wait until it’s going up 2 billion dollars.”
Manely shared that Wisconsin is already a top 10 state for income taxes and a top 10 state for property taxes. Hong’s plan will only serve to detrimentally harm our state.
