Wisconsin Chamber Decries Outrageous Environmentalist Ad Attacking Sen. Johnson

MADISON – The state chamber of commerce said Thursday that the League of Conservation Voters is waging a ridiculous fear-mongering campaign in TV ads that attack U.S. Senator Ron Johnson (R-Wisconsin) because he correctly opposes President Barack Obama’s new and reckless global warming rules. The ads depict people disappearing, as if they are dying due to global warming.
WMC Vice President of Government Relations Scott Manley said:
“The ads are shameful, fear-mongering at its worst. People in Wisconsin are not dying from global warming, to the contrary, we already have air quality rules in place that protect public health. The new EPA global warming regulations will hit Wisconsin especially hard because we are a manufacturing intensive state that relies on coal for our energy. The regulations will drive up the cost of electricity in our state, resulting in the loss of tens of thousands of high-wage jobs to countries overseas like China. The League of Conservation Voters should be ashamed of their absurd scare tactics, and Senator Johnson should be commended for opposing the EPA plan to kill middle-class manufacturing jobs in Wisconsin.”
