Technical Diploma Bill

WMC supports the passage of Senate Bill 335 and Assembly Bill 447, relating to authorizing a school board to grant a technical diploma. Rep. Mark Radcliffe (D, Black River Falls) and Sen. Van Wanggaard (R, Racine) introduced this legislation to help address the needs of a skilled workforce. While this bill isn’t the silver bullet to solve the issue, allowing school boards to develop a curriculum and diploma that is more technical in nature should help encourage students to enter into the skilled trades and at the same time educate our youth about good paying, long term opportunities in this important sector of our economy.

The Senate Bill has already passed the Senate so both the Senate and Assembly bill are waiting for floor action in the Assembly.
