WMC’s latest Two Minute Drill focuses on polyfluoroalkyls, or “PFAS” chemicals. These synthetic compounds have been used in industry and consumer products around the world since the 1940s. However, two of the most common PFAS – PFOS and PFOA – are no longer manufactured in the United States. Wisconsin’s Department of Health Services has subverted the federal process to put a more restrictive regulation in place of 20 parts per trillion.
