MADISON – Wisconsin Manufacturers & Commerce (WMC) – the state chamber of commerce – declared September as Chamber of Commerce Month in Wisconsin on Thursday. Throughout September, WMC will work with local chambers to highlight the crucial role they play in communities across the state.
Wisconsin’s more than 265 local chambers help strengthen Wisconsin’s economy through advocacy, education and economic development. In addition, these chambers promote tourism, business-focused programming and community events on a regular basis.
“The business community is grateful for the support and leadership of local chambers of commerce every day,” said WMC President & CEO Kurt Bauer. “But in September we get the opportunity celebrate the hard work of Wisconsin chambers and highlight the advocacy and resources that chambers provide for their local communities.”
In honor of the contributions local chambers make in our communities and state, Gov. Tony Evers proclaimed September as Chamber of Commerce Month in Wisconsin. Gov. Evers signed the proclamation at the request of the Wisconsin Chamber of Commerce Executives (WCCE) ¬– a division of WMC – that offers professional development and advocacy for local chambers of commerce.
“Local chambers across the state deserve to be recognized for their dedication and hard work,” said WCCE Chairman Dave Eckmann. “Local chambers are at the forefront of helping businesses and communities prosper and they are crucial to helping us navigate economic challenges and keeping Wisconsin’s economy moving forward.”
Chambers will commemorate Chamber of Commerce Month with a variety of different events, programming and campaigns. The celebration will culminate with the WCCE Annual Conference & Retreat, which will be held Sept. 27-29 in Eau Claire.
The conference will provide an opportunity for local chamber executives from across Wisconsin to enhance their leadership and professional skills and, ultimately, grow local chambers. The event will include keynotes, breakout sessions and time with colleagues that educate staff on best practices, provide solutions to challenges and prepare chambers for emerging trends.
