UPFRONT: WMC President & CEO Kurt R. Bauer discusses Wisconsin 2035 Report as a solution to Wisconsin Workforce Shortage

WMC Foundation – an affiliate of Wisconsin Manufacturers & Commerce (WMC) – unveiled its Wisconsin 2035 report on Thursday at the annual Future Wisconsin Summit. The report is an economic blueprint for the state to be successful over the next 15 years and beyond.

Following the rollout of the report, WMC President & CEO Kurt Bauer sat down with UpFront’s Adrienne Pedersen to talk about the challenges Wisconsin’s economy faces and some potential solutions. Specifically, Bauer focused on the severe workforce shortage facing Wisconsin and its impact on the economy.

“The bottom line is that we just don’t have enough people,” Bauer said on UpFront. “We are not attracting enough people. We are not having enough babies to replace the workers that we have. And it is a big problem. If you don’t have workers to replace retiring baby boomers, you lose that job.”
