WMC Submits Comments to DNR on State Groundwater Standards for PFAS

WMC’s Environmental Coalition submitted comments on Tuesday to the DNR on the state groundwater standards for PFOA, PFOS, TCE and other substances, urging the DNR to remove the groundwater standards it established and instead adopt EPA standards or standards that accurately reflect the most recently available science.

The DNR’s proposed groundwater rule, DG-15-19, not only creates unrealistic standards, it underestimates the total costs of implementing and complying with the rule. Legally, the DNR cannot enforce a rule with a compliance cost that exceeds the $10 million statutory threshold without legislative enactment of the bill.
