WMC Testifies in Support of Legislation That Would Create More Charter Schools in Wisconsin

WMC Director of Workforce, Education & Employment Policy Rachel Ver Velde, submitted testimony in support of two bills that would help streamline the bureaucratic process for approving new charter schools. Assembly Bill 967 is legislation that would allow charter school governing boards to work with school boards to open more charter schools if all operating charter schools are high-performing. Assembly Bill 968 would establish the Charter School Authorizing Board as part of the Department of Public Instruction. The business community is excited to support legislation that will allow more education options for Wisconsin students.
