WMC Statement on Governor Walker’s Jobs Plan

Kurt Bauer, President/CEO of WMC, the state’s chamber of commerce, issued the following statement on Governor Scott Walker’s Jobs Plan:
“The business community applauds Gov. Walker for his leadership in promoting the important reforms announced in his jobs plan. The governor’s plan correctly focuses on areas that will help businesses invest and grow in Wisconsin, including reducing our tax burden and providing education and training to meet the needs of a skilled workforce.
Building upon the policies that have already led to $2 billion in tax cuts for Wisconsin families and sustained wage growth for workers will help ensure that Wisconsin remains on the right path for job creation, and employers remain confident in the direction of our state.
The governor’s plan stands in stark contrast to that of candidate Mary Burke, who has not articulated a vision for tax reform. Mary Burke has instead publicly supported raising taxes on employers while saddling them with higher costs from new government mandates. She has also opposed recent efforts to reduce the income and property tax burden on families and businesses in our state. What little we do know about Mary Burke’s agenda for taxes and government regulation is a set of priorities that unfortunately will take our state in the wrong direction.”
