Wisconsin State Journal Story Wrong on Oscar Mayer Plant Closing

WMC Advised State Officials That Kraft Cheese Plant Was Committed to Beaver Dam
MADISON – On Wednesday, the Wisconsin State Journal inaccurately reported that WMC had advised state officials not to follow up with Oscar Mayer executives about Madison plant closings.
“The dots don’t connect,” said WMC President/CEO Kurt R. Bauer. “We told the WEDC that the Kraft cheesemaking plant in Beaver Dam was in good shape and committed to Wisconsin, and the State Journal inexplicably conflated that into WMC telling the WEDC they didn’t need to worry about the hot dog plant in Madison.
“The story is a stretch of the truth to say the least and conveys a bias toward WMC and the WEDC that is palpable. We all know the difference between cheese and hot dogs. We all know the difference between Beaver Dam and Madison. But apparently the Wisconsin State Journal doesn’t.”
