MADISON – Wisconsin Manufacturers & Commerce (WMC), with support from award sponsor WM, announced the nine recipients of the Wisconsin Business Friend of the Environment Award, which were selected by an independent panel of judges. For 36 years, the Business Friend of the Environment Award has been presented to companies that have demonstrated environmental leadership through sustainability, stewardship, and innovation.
“Wisconsin businesses recognize that environmental stewardship is both a responsibility and an opportunity,” said Adam Jordahl, WMC Director of Environmental & Energy Policy. “Employees, customers, and communities expect companies to be good environmental partners, and employers across our state have a long history of rising to that challenge and exceeding expectations.”
The awards program, sponsored by WM, seeks to demonstrate to state policymakers and the public that businesses are leading in sound environmental practices. Awards are presented based on company size (small, medium, and large categories) and type of environmental activity. Businesses must demonstrate they have made a significant improvement in one of three areas: sustainability, environmental stewardship, or environmental innovation.
“At WM, we see every day how environmental progress happens through the dedication of businesses and the people who power them,” said Steve Kanow, Area Vice President, WM. “We’re proud to celebrate this year’s recipients and the teams behind these efforts, whose commitment to sustainability and environmental stewardship is making a positive impact across our state.”
