WMC, Wisconsin Dairy Alliance (WDA), and Venture Dairy Cooperative (VDC) submitted comments requesting changes to permit requirements for Gordondale Farms Inc., a dairy farm in Portage County. The DNR’s proposed permit modification would establish burdensome and costly groundwater monitoring requirements for this dairy farm, even though the DNR has failed to adopt a rule defining how it will exercise this authority. WMC, WDA, and VDC urged the DNR to remove the proposed groundwater monitoring requirements from the permit and instead initiate a rulemaking process, as required by state law.
