Milwaukee – Alto-Shaam, Inc. is one of six Wisconsin companies awarded a prestigious Wisconsin Manufacturer of the Year Award. Four Grand Award winners, categorized by number of employees, were recognized for impeccable performance across the nomination categories while two manufacturers were honored with special awards for Company Culture. The winners were announced Thursday, February 25 at a black-tie banquet honoring the 38 nominees.
From a company starting in a garage 60 years ago, to a worldwide business manufacturing commercial food preparation products, Alto-Shaam, Inc.’s innovative roots have continued through the years to provide a technological transformation. However, they have not allowed technology to replace employees. But rather allow it to enhance their manufacturing velocity. This has provided an up-tick in sales and impressive employee growth, increasing their headcount by 50% in the last five years.
Their focus on a transparent culture is evident in their top-down and bottom-up leadership. Empowering their employees and bridging a long-standing gap between the shop floor and front office has allowed their workers to be the pulse of their success.
Alto-Shaam Inc.’s unique culture is complimented by their gain sharing program that rewards all employees for contributions to overall corporate objectives. Employees are invested in the financial health of the organization and are transparent about their strengths and weaknesses in order to continuously improve.
Since 2010, Alto-Shaam, Inc. has succeeded in organically growing the business at an annual rate exceeding 15% by entering new customer channels, developing new products, and satisfying unique customer needs. They continue to be an outstanding performer in global markets with offices around the world.
Celebrating its 28th year, the Manufacturer of the Year Award program recognizes manufacturers of all sizes and industries for all that they do to drive the Wisconsin economy. Companies were evaluated in areas such as financial growth or consistency, technological advances, product development, environmental solutions and sustainability, operational excellence/continuous improvement, commitment to employees and effective research and development. The Wisconsin Manufacturer of the Year award winners were selected by an independent panel of judges.
The accounting and advisory firm of Baker Tilly, the law firm of Michael Best & Friedrich LLP, and the business association Wisconsin Manufacturers & Commerce sponsor the MOTY awards program. Additional information can be found online at www.wimoty.com or by calling (800) 362-7301.
