Unemployment Rate Continues to Drop in Wisconsin

Wisconsin is “On a Roll,” WMC says

MADISON – A new report from the Department of Workforce Development showing that Wisconsin’s unemployment rate continues to fall and remain below the national average is evidence that “Wisconsin is on a roll,” said WMC Thursday.
On Thursday, the Department of Workforce Development reported that the state’s unemployment rate in September had dropped to 5.5 percent – a post-recession low. The state’s unemployment rate had been 7.8 percent when Governor Jim Doyle left office in 2011.
“Wisconsin is on a roll because of Governor Scott Walker’s leadership on job creation,” said Kurt R. Bauer, WMC President/CEO.  “We have cut taxes, cut red tape and clamped down on frivolous lawsuits and employers are responding by creating jobs here.  We are on the right track for growth, hope and opportunity.”
WMC is Wisconsin’s chamber of commerce.
