After Governor Gavin Newsom claimed California is the number one manufacturing state, Scott Manley of Wisconsin Manufacturers and Commerce joined the Vicki McKenna Show to set the record straight.
Wisconsin has the second highest manufacturing jobs per capita in the country, trailing only to Indiana. Manley says that the state has lost about 20,000 manufacturing jobs in the last few years, crediting the dip to an unfriendly tax environment. He is hopeful better policies can help turn that trend around.
“Even despite that, we still have more than twice as many manufacturing jobs per capita as California,” Manley said.
