Proof School Choice Works

A new report from School Choice Wisconsin shows choice schools are the best investment for Wisconsin taxpayers – both in guaranteeing education outcomes and lowering expenses. Scott Manley of Wisconsin Manufacturers & Commerce joins Jay Weber to discuss the report and compare outcomes from the choice program to public schools.

“The bottom line is we spend less money to educate each school choice kid, and they get better academic results,” Manley said. “The best investment we can make is in choice schools.”

The report shows 76% better outcomes from the choice program in Milwaukee, 41% in Racine, and 33% statewide.

Many political leaders, including Governor Evers, oppose school choice, claiming it cheats the public school system. But public schools have come under fire for abysmal test scores. In Milwaukee, for example, Manley shared that 80% of public high schoolers are below proficiency for math and 76% are below proficiency for reading.

The School Choice Wisconsin report comes as the state recently announced it is yet again lowering its academic standards.
