Sample Business Letter on Boycotts

Here’s how one Wisconsin company dealt with boycott demands

A sample letter based on an actual response

“I trust you are aware that the contributions you are speaking of were made by individual employees and not by my company and that the company has no control over contributions made by its employees.

You might find it interesting to know that our company contributed over $XXXXXXX in 2010 to the communities where we have operations, with most of these funds sent to charitable, civic and educational institutions in Wisconsin.

While I respect your right to purchase from businesses of your choice, you should realize that our company is a home-grown Wisconsin firm that provides family-supporting jobs. Efforts to damage our company economically will only serve to put a company at risk that would hurt the XXXX hardworking individuals and their families.”
