Part One: Leadership Before Strategy

The day opens with a March Forth keynote, which sets the leadership foundation required for effective chamber work. It introduces key concepts such as the difference between “owners” and “occupants,” the role of clarity and personal agency in preventing leadership drift, and the responsibility to protect mission, goals, and people. This keynote establishes a shared language and mental framework that guides the rest of the day’s work.

Part Two: Strategic Chamber Leadership Discussion

Next, the group will participate in a guided, hands-on leadership and strategy discussion using the Chamber on a Mission framework to clarify focus and reduce dilution across people, programs, and priorities. The discussion will define the chamber’s true mission, distinguish internal priorities from external expectations, and outline what success should look like over the next 12–36 months. The session’s core purpose is alignment—across leadership roles, between staff and board, and between effort and outcomes.

The session covers practical areas such as membership operations, revenue systems, retention and onboarding, sales and marketing processes, communication workflows, staff roles, and consultative thinking. Participants will leave with actionable frameworks and tools that can be applied immediately in chambers of any size or market.
