For the past 20 years, Wisconsin’s economy has been evolving and changing, and our workforce has always kept pace . . . until recently.  Changing and challenging demographics have become the number one concern of many employers.  The Future Wisconsin Project was launched, in part, to address the imbalance in talent development, retention and attraction, with the jobs available.  If we are able to attract the talent needed we will take a big step toward ensuring a more competitive Wisconsin.

Problem

Too many parents and students are making career decisions based on limited exposure to Wisconsin’s jobs, outdated data, less work experience, fewer curriculum options, old paradigms and ineffective counseling.

Currently

  • Different strategy in every community
  • No state strategy
  • No common purpose
  • Local control

Problem

Though Wisconsin has many positive attributes, we are branded more for our shortcomings. With the demographics working against us, if we can’t recruit, we can’t succeed.

Currently

  • No consistency in brand
  • Disjointed message
  • No target

Charge

Identify “game-changing” initiatives to attract, develop and retain the best and brightest talent for Wisconsin.
