State of WI MFG Tour

Earlier this week, Wisconsin Manufacturers & Commerce (WMC) and the Wisconsin Safety Council (WSC) kicked off the State of Wisconsin Manufacturing Tour. The first stop took place at Miller Park as a part of the first annual OnRamp Manufacturing Conference. The five-person panel featured business and educational leaders discussing the challenges facing the manufacturing industry and potential solutions.

These roundtable discussions will continue for the next month in different parts of the state, including Eau Claire, Wausau, Neenah and Beloit as a lead up to Manufacturing Month in October.

“Manufacturing is the foundation of the Wisconsin economy and the backbone of the middle class,” said Kurt R. Bauer, WMC president/CEO. “If manufacturing is thriving, so is Wisconsin. But manufacturers are having trouble finding workers to replace the retiring Baby Boomer generation, which threatens the sector’s future in Wisconsin.”

Bauer said the Manufacturing Tour aims to show young people, in particular, the various career options manufacturing has to offer.
