WMC Stands Behind Efforts to Keep Kimberly-Clark Jobs in Wisconsin

MADISON – Wisconsin Manufacturers & Commerce (WMC) commended legislators and the Wisconsin Economic Development Corporation (WEDC) on Tuesday for their actions to support Kimberly-Clark and retain family-supporting manufacturing jobs in the Fox Valley.

“Our manufacturing industry is critical to Wisconsin’s economy, and it is important for our state’s leaders to continue their strong support of the jobs created in this sector,” said WMC President & CEO Kurt R. Bauer. “Kimberly-Clark’s Cold Spring facility serves as a foundational business in the Fox Valley community, and we support efforts to retain all 400 employees in Northeast Wisconsin.”

WMC has consistently expressed its support of the manufacturing industry, because it has one of the largest multiplier effects of any industry in the economy. For every manufacturing job in Wisconsin, another 3.4 jobs are created in other industries.

“The economic impact of Kimberly-Clark goes beyond just the jobs they create,” Bauer added. “That is why we are hopeful for a solution to keep the Cold Spring facility open for years to come.”
