Grandfathering into our Program
Individuals who currently hold instructor/instructor trainer credentials in another first aid/CPR nationally recognized program, may qualify to be automatically “grandfathered” as an instructor. Please contact WSC at 800.236.3400. This course can only be taught by certified instructors and you must register with the National Safety Council to begin delivering training.
Knowing how to respond to a first aid or CPR emergency is one of the most important skills a person can possess. The Standard First Aid, CPR and AED course meets the OSHA requirements and is your tool for training employees or the general public on the latest skills, techniques and expertise in life-saving procedures. The practice and feedback of using related skills in a realistic situation is integrated into the actual teaching experience. Upon successful completion, you will become certified to teach First Aid/Adult CPR/AED and receive the complete instructor resource package with the Standard First Aid, CPR and AED instructor resource manual, student manual, VHS, DVD and instructor CD-ROM.
The first five minutes following an injury — and the immediate response from those on the scene — can mean the difference between life and death. The instructor course is your tool for training employees, EMS, healthcare providers, athletic trainers, and emergency response teams who may be required to use an automated external defibrillation device. This course can only be taught by certified instructors and you must register with the Wisconsin Safety Council to begin delivering training.

Emergency Care Overview
The National Safety Council (NSC) has long been recognized as a leader in emergency care training. These programs offer the very latest techniques and follow the latest guidelines for CPR and meet OSHA’s standards for emergency care training in the workplace. The NSC makes it easy for anyone to learn or teach Standard First Aid, CPR and AED. We give you all the background information and skill testing you need to feel confident in the event of an emergency — and help save a life.
If you want to teach Standard First Aid, CPR and AED, NSC is the smart choice. If you’re teaching another program, we can grandfather you in. Or, you can become an NSC authorized emergency care instructor in as little as three days. Our instructor resource kit comes complete with a newly revised instructor’s manual, an instructor’s CD-ROM, First Aid/CPR/AED presentations on DVD, and a student manual. You’ll also get nationally recognized completion cards, exclusive product pricing with NO annual fees, and much more!
We’ve updated our training to incorporate Video Self Instruction (VSI) for CPR skills. With VSI, students practice CPR along with the video, taking their cues from the rescuer on the screen. VSI is shown to result in better CPR skills acquisition and retention than traditional teaching methods. And, it helps you provide consistent instruction on a tight teaching schedule. As an added bonus, all NSC instructors get exclusive access to our web-based Emergency Care Instructor Portal, which contains downloadable promotions, administrative documents, course outlines, state-by-state approvals, product previews, trade show listings, and more. Plus, you get free student recordkeeping.
