Advanced First Aid/Adult CPR/AED – Madison

Course Overview

OSHA mandates that a trained First Aid responder must be present in high-risk industries with the most dangerous jobs where medical emergencies require immediate emergency response. Ensure compliance and prepare your workforce with this comprehensive 16 hour Advanced First Aid course. NSC® Advanced First Aid, CPR & AED is designed for Safety Director/Supervisors, OHNs and ERT members. This scenario-based course offers detailed tools and options for utilizing Emergency Response Teams for the workplace.

Meets current CPR and ECC Guidelines. Also, meets OSHA requirements for First Aid training in the workplace. Successful completion cards in Advanced First Aid valid for 3 years, and Adult CPR/AED valid for 2 years will be issued following this course.

Key Topics/Goals/Objectives

  • Plan, implement and evaluate Emergency Response Teams in the workplace
  • Perform high quality CPR and using a team approach in cardiac events
  • Basic airway and ventilation adjuncts, oxygen administration
  • Detailed trauma and sudden illness assessment and care skills
  • Best practice methods of controlling bleeding and immobilizing injuries
  • Assisted medications, triage and moving victims
  • Transport options for non-life threatening, medically stable individuals
  • Remote location First Aid


Day 1 – Preparing for and Activating Emergency Action Plans, legal concepts, scene safety and response follow-up. Methods of assessing the victim and taking action. Basic Life Support CPR/AED, basic airway and ventilation adjuncts. Oxygen administration priorities. High performance team resuscitation drills.

Day 2 – Trauma assessment and care for injuries in the workplace. To include soft tissue injuries, burns, the head and spine, torso and extremity injuries. Illness assessment and care for commonly seen workplace events. Breathing difficulties, acute coronary syndrome, altered mental states, cold and heat emergencies. Pregnancy and childbirth.
